The most demanding ASE automobile test, A8 requires a complete drivability diagnostic strategy. You will use scan data, fuel trims, waveforms, and emissions test results to isolate faults across ignition, fuel, air induction, exhaust, and computerized engine control systems.

Module 1 — General Diagnosis & OBD-II
- Verification, symptom analysis, and TSB research
- OBD-II monitors, readiness, and DTC strategy
- Fuel trim analysis and mode $06 data
Module 2 — Ignition & Computerized Controls
- Primary and secondary ignition waveform analysis
- Misfire diagnosis and cylinder contribution testing
- Sensors, actuators, and PCM control strategy
Module 3 — Fuel & Air Induction
- Fuel pressure, volume, and injector testing
- GDI and port injection differences
- MAF, MAP, and induction/exhaust restriction testing
Module 4 — Emissions & ASE Review
- EVAP system testing and leak diagnosis
- EGR, PCV, and secondary air systems
- Catalyst efficiency, O2/AFR sensors, ASE A8 practice test
